ABOUT NATIONAL LITERACY DIRECTORY
The National Literacy Directory (NLD), funded by the Dollar General Literacy Foundation and managed by the National Center for Families Learning and ProLiteracy, is a free online directory that connects adults and families to education services and volunteer opportunities in local communities nationwide. Organizations offering education services and/or volunteer opportunities can create an account and list information about their program(s) on the NLD. Call center representatives send program managers referrals if someone in their community indicates that they are interested in the education services/volunteer opportunities provided.
When programs list their information on the NLD, visitors to the site can search within our website based on distance from their ZIP code. This listing can also be used as a public contact page for your program. The NLD’s website is also linked as a resource on affiliated websites.
In addition to periodic NLD funding opportunities, program managers are eligible to apply for the Dollar General Literacy Foundation's annual adult literacy grants and family literacy grants.
